R.D. Creative Direct was founded in 1983 in New York City to provide results-oriented direct marketing copy to a wide variety of businesses and relocated to Austin, Texas in 1985. In response to requests from our clients, the company expanded its offerings to include marketing consulting and training, press releases, web site content, and ghost-written articles for magazines. In 1998, Rona began contributing feature stories to a niche magazine at the editor’s request. Today she writes for a variety of regional and national publications on everything from travel to financial services.

R.D. Creative Direct incorporated in Texas in 2001. The focus on affordable, personal, results-oriented service has helped the company continue to grow despite the economic downturn.

Rona Distenfeld, President

An award-winning direct marketing copywriter, Rona attended Barnard College in New York City where she majored in English. Her first job out of school was with Cambridge University Press where she created mailings to sell hundreds of new and back-list books. Like most direct marketers in those early days, she handled every area, including planning and analysis, working with printers and lettershops, buying lists, and creating the mailings.

From book publishing Rona worked briefly for an advertising agency in New York City before moving to the circulation department of Institutional Investor magazine, which she helped move from a controlled to a paid circulation publication. She continued in the financial services industry as Circulation Marketing Manager for the American Banker/Bond Buyer newspapers. While working full time she pursued a newly created degree in Direct Marketing from New York University. She completed the program in 18 months, and six months later left New York for the warm weather and live music of Austin, Texas. That was in 1985 when she became Director of Communications for Sheshunoff Information Services Inc., and she has called Austin home ever since. Today her clients include financial services industry providers, retail businesses, health care companies, software companies, nonprofits and more.
